About IDCTE
A youth-founded human rights organization advocating for the Eelam Tamil nation.
Who We Are
International Diplomatic Council of Tamil Eelam, also known as IDCTE, is a human rights organization registered in Copenhagen, Denmark, since August 2021. IDCTE was founded by a group of new-generation Eelam Tamil youths from Nordic and other European countries who were simply frustrated by the delayed justice for the people of Tamil Eelam.
What We Do
IDCTE is a dedicated human rights organization that continuously and tirelessly advocates for the rights, self-determination and justice of the Eelam Tamils in Tamil Eelam. We firmly believe that every individual deserves to live a life free from oppression and discrimination.
Our Primary Goal
Eelam Tamils have faced genocide in Tamil Eelam at the hands of the occupying Sri Lankan state since 1948. It reached its peak in 2009 — tens of thousands killed in the final days of the armed conflict, and at least 146,679 people still unaccounted for. What we face today is structural: a sustained effort to erase Tamil identity, culture, and literature.
Our primary objective is to ensure this is neither forgotten nor denied. We document what was done and what is still being done, and we carry that evidence to the institutions with the power to act — so that recognition of the genocide is followed by accountability, and accountability by consequence.
Awareness alone is not the goal. We advocate for a political solution that answers the aspirations of the Tamil nation, grounded in our right to self-determination in Tamil Eelam.

Why We Exist
We exist because justice for the Tamil people has been delayed for too long. IDCTE was founded by young Eelam Tamils across the Nordic countries who grew up watching the international community look away — and decided to stop waiting for someone else to act.
